THE RMAA REVIEW:

December 2010

April 2011

BOARD OF EXAMINERS UPDATE:

The new Rural Board of Examiners has been in operation since July 1st, 2001.  At that time, the Province removed it's association with the board and the new board was constituted.  The new board is running virtually the same as in the past with a few minor improvements.  When the Province was involved, municipal advisors would carry out the office inspections required by the Board.  With this service removed, the new board contracted Mr. Dale Leflar and Mr. Dale Malmgren to act as office inspectors and I would like to commend them on their excellent job to date.  If you have any questions regarding the Board of Examiners, feel free to contact the Board's Secretary, Jim Angus at the RM of Harris #316.

BLOOD CHALLENGE!

We will once again be presenting the Blood Donation Challenge award to the RMAA Division whose members have donated the most blood over the past year.  Defending champion is Division 2.  If you have donated blood in the past year, please contact your Division Director by May 1st and advise her of your donation(s)

SHORTAGE OF ADMINISTRATORS LOOMING!

The executive boards of both the RMAA and SARM are very concerned with the shortage of qualified administrators' and it is a situation which will likely get worse.  A committee has been struck to recruit new individuals into the profession  with the President and Vice President of each organization sitting on the committee.  Following are some facts which you may find interesting:

At one point early in March, we had 22 R.M.'s in transition, with many of them unable to find qualified administrators.  I would like to thank the administrators around the province who are taking the time and effort to train new administrators or supervise new administrators in neighboring municipalities who are completing the training component of the C Certificate Qualification.

P/D HOUR UPDATE:

We periodically receive P/D Registration Forms from members for various workshops and conventions.  We automatically track the following events and you will not be required to report them to us:

You will be required to submit forms for any university classes, classes relating to a professional designation (CMA, CGA, etc), or any accepted programs run by UMAAS.

THANKS TO OUR MANY SPONSORS:

Once again we have had a terrific response from our many sponsors for our upcoming convention and their names are listed in your convention program.  Sponsorship dollars allow us to put on our annual convention without a registration fee.  If you are talking to any of our sponsors, please be sure to thank them for their continued support.  Our sponsors contribute well over $30,000.00 annually to our convention!

SUSPENDED/EXPELLED MEMBERS:

We will no longer be printing the list of suspended and expelled members in our regular newsletters.  We maintain a listing of these individuals in our office and this list is available on demand. When hiring a new administrator, we recommend that councils carefully check references to ensure that they are hiring quality administrators.
